STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

All students in grades 4 or 5 are eligible. Students must maintain class work and be responsible for any work missed during music classes.

BEHAVIOR STANDARDS

Music students are expected to conform to acceptable standards of behavior, just as in any other school activity. If a student displays unacceptable behavior, they will be warned, and the parents will be phoned. If there is a second occurrence the student will be sent back to their primary classroom for the remainder of the class session. In the third instance, the student will be removed from the music program. No make-up lessons or refunds will be given for behavior-related incidents.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Beginning music students need parental encouragement, involvement, and assistance. They should practice at least 15 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week. Please help provide a nurturing environment with firm structure to ensure the success of your budding musician.

INSTRUMENTS

Families are responsible for providing an instrument, equipment, and the method book. Supplemental material will be provided by the instructor at no extra charge. Band students may choose from flute, clarinet, saxophone (alto), trumpet, or percussion.

Rent or purchase instruments from the following music stores:
